| Marron (Cherax Tenunanus) is another freshwater Crayfish, which are larger than the yabbies and are a brownish in colour with two black beady eyes and two large claws. |
| Marron were introduced into South Australia in the 1960's, but have been farmed since the 1990's. |
| Marron live in the same conditions as yabbies, but are supposed to breed only once a year. |
| Marron are opportunist feeders and their diet consists of plant material, aquatic insects, zooplankton and detritus. They only tolerate freshwater otherwise they die or go walk abouts. |
| Boiling marron brings out the red colour (seawater is ideal for cooking marron). |
